I understand that Charis Classical Academy (CCA) is a Christian school and that this means my child(ren) will be given a classical education that is taught from an evangelical Protestant perspective. By sending my child to CCA, I am agreeing to partner with the school in the education and discipleship of my child(ren). I am in full agreement with the vision of the school. While there will inevitably be some decisions with which I disagree, I am committing to support the school’s vision of creating an environment where a Biblical worldview is clearly taught, Jesus Christ is honored, and the good, the true, and the beautiful are celebrated for the glory of God. The following statements do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs and standards. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. However, for purposes of Charis Classical Academy’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the leadership of Charis Classical Academy is the final interpretative authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

As a community of faith, therefore, we believe and hold to the following doctrinal statements…

1. There is one sovereign God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. The Bible is the inerrant Word of God and authoritative in all things.
3. All persons have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, and salvation from the penalty of sin is found only through faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.

In addition, as a community seeking to submit to one another out of a love for Christ, we also believe and hold to the following statements regarding marriage and gender…

God designed marriage to reflect the beauty and permanence of Christ’s loving relationship with his bride, the church (1). Therefore, he established marriage to be a life-long, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman (2). God also designed it to provide mutual companionship through life’s joys and difficulties, to create stability for raising and nurturing children, and to give strength and cohesiveness to society in general. In light of all of this, sex is to be confined only to two persons of the opposite sex who have entered into the covenant of marriage (3). Anything outside of these boundaries is considered sin, including homosexuality and heterosexual adultery which, by the delivering power of God, one can be free from.

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in his own image. Adam and Eve belonged to the created order that God himself declared to be very good, serving as God’s agents to care for, manage, and govern creation, living in holy and devoted fellowship with their Maker. Men and women, equally made in the image of God, enjoy equal access to God by faith in Christ Jesus and are both called to move beyond passive self-indulgence to significant private and public engagement in family, church, and civic life. Adam and Eve were made to complement each other in a one-flesh union that establishes the only normative pattern of sexual relations for men and women, such that marriage ultimately serves as a type of the union between Christ and his church. In God’s wise purposes, men and women are not simply interchangeable, but rather they complement each other in mutually enriching ways.
